As I was giving some thought to the Answers thread I've been discussing in the past, where the users continue asking for any information... And we're highly tempted to give it to them, despite the fact that we still don't have any Good News for them. The thing is, there a gnawing concern (choice of words - homage to Victor W., my mythological boss) that if we give them what they ask for (information, and not yet shipping date), this will just rekindle the flame, not help to calm the situation. (Practically, gonna sit it out for another week until we hopefully have more concrete information.) So why the title of the post? (Completed from Yesterday, and the Day Before) All of these will start as soon as we move multi-content into QA - since we're focusing all of the team on the multi-content blog post for images and video. In the March post we referred to our intention to deliver the multi-content feature over the next few months - and this is still the intention. I hope my next update, within a month, will be a call to early-access volunteers, those of you who are sticking with the Blog and are willing to help validate the multi-content feature we're working on is all we expect it to be. (Continued from Yesterday) So we must find the optimal way to deliver this functionality in a way that balances the benefits of the Wix platform, matches the expectations of existing users, yet doesn't modify the functionality of any of the published Blogs. We believe we've found this path, and are strong at work to deliver this, carefully. Also on our roadmap are other important features such as revamped Blog Manager, including support for Categories, Tags, Post Preview, Search, Scheduled Publish, a new Post Editor to simplify the construction of beautiful (multi-content) blog posts, RSS feeds and more. To Wix Blog users, An update - not breaking news. Last month we provided a status-update on the Wix Blog, and one of the things we promised are updates... We've been quiet in the past couple of weeks since we don't want to prematurely set expectations, yet we do want to provide an update... any update. We've successfully increased the number of developers on our Blog team (and are still recruiting), and the team is working on nothing but the "multi-content-per-blog-post" feature. The complexity of the implementation (and the reason it's taking us longer than we all wish) is that the Blog "lives" in a very rich environment, and with many (many many) live Blogs out there. בשיחה מזדמנת עם חבר לעבודה, בחור מוכשר ונחמד העונה לשם שי, הוא סיפר על תובנה שלו בנוגע לרמת המתח הראויה והנדרשת בין בעלי תפקידים שונים בצוות. הנקודה הייתה, שיש בעלי תפקידים שמפגינים אדישות (מקצועית!) לחבריהם לצוות - שחושבים שהם צריכים לשמור על מרחק מבעלי תפקידים אחרים, ושכל תחום-אחריות (זה התרגום המתאים ל-״דיסיפלינה״ - discipline?) ידאג לעצמו (״אני מעצב - אני רק עוסק ומתעניין בעיצוב. שבודקי התוכנה יהיו מוטרדים מהאיכות״). זה לא טוב. לעומתם, יש בעלי תפקידים שמרגישים ומפגינים אמפטיה (מקצועית) גדולה מידי לשיקולים המקצועיים של חבריהם לצוות, ושדואגים ומודאגים מבעיות של התחומים האחרים - אולי יותר מאשר הבעיות שבתחומי אחריותם (״אומנם אני איש פיתוח, אבל ראיתי מה שקורה ב-support וזה ממש לא יכול להימשך ככה, ולכן שיניתי את תוכנית העבודה״). גם זה לא טוב. (Continued from March 31st, 2014) My thought was to push the Notes List (table/master) view and the Note Details (detail) view - but actually I failed to simulate this - since when going back from detail to master - I wouldn't get the "un-select blink" Apple usually does. I later found out all of my assumptions are wrong :-) So I'll have to update later. How was I wrong? 1. Even regular (non-deep-linking) doesn't "un-select blink" for me, which may be related to the use of Swipe Cell 3rd party sample code. Under investigation. 2. Even Apple's Mail app doesn't "un-select blink" when deep-linked into emails. So, the saga continues...

More on my Take-a-Note adventures. So this took me onto a roller-coaster of excitement (if late-night coding is exciting to you) as I was trying to figure out the best way to architecture my app, to allow for a Note Recorder VC, Notes List VC, and Note Details VC to be deep linked. I started with Recorder being the root VC. (Hint: I ended up with Recorder being the root VC...) I was looking how to deep-link, as a result of the user asking for details of a note (e.g. from the notification center). To be continued... #product #takeanote

It's 11pm, and I'm almost missing yet-another-day... It's so hard finding the content for writing. Anyway, more on Take-a-Note for iOS 7. I'm basically re-writing from scratch, including a new Wix-based website (like, duh?). The only piece of code I'm really re-using is the Notes Data Model, the piece of code that manages the the notes on disk and in memory - this is what should allow me to correctly upgrade my users. I should say, the new app looks very nice, and I really like the new "flat" design (very minimalistic, mostly sticking to iOS built-in widgets) and the new icon (thank you Navot Porat of the Wix Design Studio), see attached... #product #takeanote

I started redoing Take-a-Note for iOS 7 exactly a month ago (February 27th, 2014). It actually started earlier - some 5 months ago, when on a long flight I decided to start laying down wireframes, to see where it takes me. My last update was on October 15th, 2012 - so it's been almost a full year without any updates, and I dare say I barely touched the code for over a year before that. One of the most interesting lessons I've learned was looking at the preferences/settings the user could controls.I used to have over ten (10). and I'm now aiming for less than five (5)... סיפור חיי (מבחינה מקצועית) בכמה מילים... אז האמת היא, שהתחלתי לעבוד בהייטק לפני שהתחלתי ללמוד. הייתה לי חצי שנה עד תחילת שנת הלימודים, ורציתי לחסוך כסף. חיפשתי עבודה בחנות ספרים - כי לא חשבתי שיש לי סיכוי למצוא עבודה בהייטק, אבל אמא שלי אמרה - תבדוק, מה יש לך להפסיד. השארתי קורות-חיים (מאוד דלילים כמובן) בכל החברות בסביבה, וכתוצאה מחוסר הבנת הנקרא (אני כתבתי שאני עומד להתחיל שנת לימודים ראשונה במחשבים - והם קראו שסיימתי שנת לימודים ראשונה), הוזמנתי לראיון... התחלתי כמשכפל תוכנה, עברתי להיות בודק תוכנה, המשכתי להיות כותב בגים, ומשם גם לתחום הגדרת המוצרים. הבוס הראשון והמיתולוגי שלי לימד אותי שני כללים בעבודת צוות: - תמיד תעבוד עם אנשים חכמים ממך - תמיד תעבוד עם אנשים נחמדים ממך... שני הדברים תמיד באו לי בקלות :-) הייתי מוסיף עוד כלל אחד להצלחה - שיתוף אני קורא לזה הגינה שלנו - ולא הבית שלי... כי בבית שלי, אני מחליט, ואני קובע - ואני לבד. ובגינה שלנו, אנחנו ביחד, פועלים ביחד - להשיג מטרות מתוך שיתוף - ושאיפה ליהנות בדרך! תמיד תדעו למצוא הנאה וסיפוק במה שאתם עושים בהצלחה! #life #reuven
