[Excerpts from “Biographical snippets for the kids” written by my late father, Prof. Richard E. Sherwin on Wednesday, September 25, 2002]

I had learned from Colonel Richard Temple, the United States Air Force Head of Airbases Section, Operations, Pentagon, the first rule of writing.
If people have to ask what you meant – you're wrong, not them – and you have got to go back and rewrite till it’s clear to everyone in your intended audience.
I learned this writing AF regulations for his signature, or the General’s (Ramey I think) above him.
